00:21 < daja77> and bye
00:21 < daja77> cu
00:24 < mnemoc> wb :\
01:19 < jani> woohoo! my build has finally finished, but the following packages didn't compile: wv2, kdeadmin31, isdn3k-utils, gconf22, ebg, bonobo-activation, bacterium, auctex. Can I just run the build script again to see what happens second time round (without having to rebuild everything)?
01:36 < jani> I could stick the error logs onto my website if anyone is interested in reading them
01:36 < jani> well, let me know, i'm going out to do some wine-tasting. back in a few hours
01:48 < mnemoc> if they didn't build they won't build :)
02:03 < netrunner> re
02:05 < esden> huhu
02:05 < esden> netrunner: you still awake?
02:08 < netrunner> esden: back home :)
02:11 < netrunner> and now to bed. started a bootdisk build to try the desktop mmx that just refinished

02:16 < esden> humm ... I managed it to recover one laptop in the meantime ;)
02:16 < esden> and nearly finished watching a japanese film ... ;)
02:17 < esden> one laptop is still checking it's harddisk ... *sigh*
02:17 < esden> since 20:00h
02:17 * netrunner had "lost in translation" in the sneak preview.
02:18 < netrunner> esden: what're you doing to your laptops?
02:18 < esden> not to mine ... to the ones of the chair
02:18 < netrunner> n8 esdenboy
02:18 < esden> I am trying to figure out a good installation way ... that is clean easy as possible ...
02:18 < esden> but that is difficult
02:18 < esden> good night netrunner
02:19 < netrunner> esden: if they're all the same, create a reference and pull an image.
02:19 < esden> not so easy ... every laptop has another user and another name ...
02:19 < esden> and I have two windows installations on it and one linux installation
02:20 < esden> and everything has to work nice together
02:20 < esden> inclusive hibernation and suspend under linux
02:20 < esden> but I figured that out by now
02:20 < netrunner> esden: you can script windows install, as you can linux install.
02:20 < esden> after three weeks ... *sigh*
02:20 < netrunner> esden: for suspend, you need to format a special partition ... but you already found that out ;)

02:22 < esden> netrunner: the biggest problem with hibernation was that these boxes were freezing after waking up ...
02:22 < esden> if you can perhups remember
02:22 < netrunner> yes, was funny :)
02:23 < netrunner> so, bed now. have phun tonight!

14:54 < blindcoder> looks like I will have to use the linuxant driver after all
15:04 < jani> how big do the directories get under rock-src-2.0.0-rc2 ? i know there's about 1.5 gig of source for the desktop target, so i thought i'd be able to get away with a 5 gig partition, but the disk usage is now up to almost 9 gig...
15:05 < jani> obviously i didn't use a 5 gig partition. but i only have 400 meg spare, so i'm moving it all to another drive
15:06 < blindcoder> 9 gig is a bit too much for a desktop build...
15:06 < blindcoder> ther's definately something screwed there
15:06 < jani> blindcoder, yeah, i figured that... there must be something wrong with it
15:07 < jani> i configured and build the bootdisk target as well, but it kept failing without that mldl-something package, which it didn't want to download (when I had the -cfg switch in the wrong place)
15:07 < HopelessMnemoc> mldl is a target download
15:08 < jani> maybe i was running out of hard drive space and that's why it was failing
15:08 < HopelessMnemoc> remove src/Download-Errors and try again
15:08 < jani> is there a way of cleaning the build directories (without having to rebuild the .gem package files)?
15:08 < HopelessMnemoc> don't ever do Download -all if you don't have LOT of hard disk sapce
15:09 < blindcoder> blindcoder@crazyhorse:~/DEVELOPMENT$ du -sh download/
15:09 < blindcoder> 2.1G download
15:09 < blindcoder> from a -all
15:09 < jani> I stopped the download -all cos it was taking too long and i was impatient, i was trying to work out how to download the individual package,
15:09 < jani> when i noticed there was only a couple of hunderd meg spare on the drive
15:10 < jani> so i shut down, installed a 60 gig drive, and turned it back on again
15:10 < blindcoder> heh, I finally got almost all my WLAN up and running :)
15:10 < blindcoder> using the linuxant drivers :)
15:11 < jani> yeah, my du -sh download/ says 1.4 Gig, which is what it should be
15:11 < jani> don't know where the other 7.5 gig of space has gone...
15:11 < HopelessMnemoc> jani: ./scripts/Download -cfg bd -required
15:12 < HopelessMnemoc> -cfg must be the first arg
15:12 < jani> HopelessMnemoc, yeah, i saw that, and i'll do it once i've worked out where the extra bloat is from. thanks, it explains why it didn't work (but it also didn't give any error message to say i'd stuffed up)
15:13 < HopelessMnemoc> we have a big lack of usability :)
15:13 < jani> it's all a learning experience... and it's not bad, it's forcing me to try to read some of the scripts to work out what they're trying to do, and why I can't make them work
15:24 * blindcoder gone

15:54 < daja77> cool
15:54 < daja77> hmm have it here too
16:10 < jani> there's an error in the /Documentation/BUILD file, it says: "./scripts/Create-ISO rock-cd -size 700 -mkdebug bootdisk athlon pentium4 generic" will create a cd, when it should be "./scripts/Create-ISO -size 700 rock-cd -mkdebug bootdisk athlon pentium4 generic"
16:11 < jani> the size option needs to be the first thing after the script name (caught me out first go)
16:11 < daja77> fix it, create a patch and send it to the list
16:11 < jani> okey dokey... once I work out how to make a patch :)
16:11 < daja77> scripts/Create-Diff
16:12 < jani> ok (right now i'm just happy i've finally got myself my very own iso's to install from ...), I'll go have a look at creating diffs
16:13 < jani> next challenge after that is to see if my iso's work
16:13 < daja77> ok have fun
16:17 < jani> what are <old-dir> and <new-dir> referring to in Create-Diff?
16:17 < daja77> you need a copy of our rock dir , containing the old stuff, the new dir is the rock dir with your changes
16:18 < daja77> your rockdir
16:18 < daja77> anyway
16:18 < jani> ok.
16:18 < jani> i'll just unzip another copy of it
16:19 < daja77> or cp -r ^^
16:20 < jani> i'd only need to copy the Documentation directory? or the whole rock dir? (it's 7.5 gig now for some reason, even though it spat out 2 650 meg isos)
16:22 < daja77> the whole
16:23 < jani> and i need to shove the output of Create-Diff into a file?
16:23 < daja77> - download and - build of course
16:23 < daja77> yes scripts/Create-Diff olddir newdir > documentation.diff
16:25 < jani> hm, no editor installed, ah well, i guess i'll use vim
16:28 < jani> cool, i now have my .diff created. I send it to the mailing list? along with an explanation for why it should change?
16:29 < daja77> are you subscribed?
16:31 < jani> no, doing that now. (well, I tried to subscribe a few days ago, but haven't heard anything back, but that was when my isp's mailserver was on the blink and i was using my own, but it's not configured 100% right)

19:15 < netrunner> HopelessMnemoc: a .conf :)
19:15 < netrunner> package/avm/bootsplash/pkg_linux24_pre.conf
