[08:50] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: can you please confirm this:
[08:51] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: ./scripts/Config -cfg bootdisk
[08:51] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: select bootdisk target
[08:51] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: grep lvm config/bootdisk/packages
[08:51] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: is the lvm package X, O or not available?
[08:51] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: it is X here, which shouldn't be
[08:52] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: at least not according to target/bootdisk/config.in
[08:54] <blindcoder> stf^rocklinux: okay, nevermind. the problem is somewhere eles
[08:57] <blindcoder> hmm
[08:58] <blindcoder> I wonder how this used to work
[08:58] <blindcoder> $ROCKCFG_PKG_LINUX_DEFAULT is _NOT_ set in target/bootdisk/config.in
[08:58] <blindcoder> $ROCKCFG*USR*_PKG_LINUX_DEFAULT however, is set if available
[09:03] <netrunner> blindcoder: why shouldn't lvm be available?
[09:03] <netrunner> moin btw :)
[09:05] <blindcoder> netrunner: because it doesn't build with linux26
[09:05] <blindcoder> that's what lvm2 is for
[09:05] <blindcoder> moin netrunner
[09:28] <blindcoder> -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 671M 2006-09-22 11:23 blindytest_cd1.iso
[09:28] <blindcoder> -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 32M 2006-09-22 11:23 blindytest_cd2.iso
[09:28] <blindcoder> YAY
[09:28] <blindcoder> I guess...
[10:48] <th> if we dropped linux24, then we should drop lvm as well and make lvm2 work without lvm-wrapper
[10:48] <th> there should be a config option for lvm{2,} to build to a location for lvm-wrapper use
[10:48] <th> so when this option is set - lvm{2,} builds to /lib/lvm{2,} only
[10:48] <th> if not - with standard prefix
[11:08] <blindcoder> I don't know anything about lvm
[11:09] <blindcoder> do what you think is right
[11:09] <blindcoder> besides, we should drop unsupported stuff anyway
[11:09] <blindcoder> devfs, linux24, lvm(?), a few architectures, router target...
[11:09] <blindcoder> make it a happy svn del :)
[11:22] <th> i see no reason for dropping lvm, although it only works with linux24
[11:23] <blindcoder> has anyone tried linux24 recently?
[11:23] <blindcoder> has anyone got any intentions on doing so?
[11:23] <blindcoder> if the answer to both questions is 'no', then it's both just useless because unmaintained code that needs to be thrown out or attic'ed
[11:24] <th> you know what we have when throwing out all unmaintained code?
[11:25] <daja77> hi th
[11:25] <blindcoder> probably 70% less stuff :)
[11:25] <th> hey daja77
[11:25] <blindcoder> moin daja77
[11:25] <daja77> th: has clifford phoned you?
[11:25] <th> blindcoder: 70% only? ;-)
[11:26] <th> daja77: yepp
[11:26] <daja77> ah ok
[11:26] <th> daja77: not today tho
[11:26] <blindcoder> th: yes. Crystal packages are around 25% af all packages. a but architecture/ and misc/ code and the scripts/ dir and you have 30%
[11:26] <daja77> that's fine with me
[11:28] <blindcoder> anyway, a build with current submaster patchset worked ine
[11:28] <blindcoder> I'll install it this weekend to see how it works
[11:28] <blindcoder> if it's fine, I'll start work on /etc/net
[11:28] <blindcoder> no more /usr/share/doc/HTML stuff from kde \o/
[11:29] <blindcoder> and, and before I forget:

[12:00] <daja77> blindcoder: nvidia removed support for older cards in their driver as well
[12:32] <blindcoder> but they provide legacy packaged
[13:02] <daja77> which doesn't work with newer kernels
[13:02] <daja77> anyway

[15:28] <blindcoder> will have to use a real machine

[16:56] <blindcoder> *snif*
[16:56] <blindcoder> I always shed a tear when I see a mention of ROCK Linux in a major article about source based distributions :-)
[16:57] <blindcoder> (blabla, why source based is good and bad at the same time, blabla) ... Popular distros include (of course) Gentoo, Source Mage, Lunar Linux, ROCK Linux, and Linux From Scratch. The latter two, and especially LFS, are designed more as a base to build your own distribution let alone desktop, and are superb if you want to learn what goes into making your own.

[16:59] <blindcoder> btw, it seems like work on the Roadmap can start as soon as this weekend
[16:59] <blindcoder> the remaining non-roadmap items on submaster have built fine
[16:59] <blindcoder> I'll have to test them on a real machine during this weekend
