(clifford) this symlinks are needed for all 64 bit
architectures. something like checking if
$arch_sizeof_char_p=8 might be much better..
(stefanp) er, I don't think these should be symlinks at all.
especially not on x86_64
(fake) on non-multilib systems, this is needed for pure
64-bit - also for sparc64.
(clifford) I suggest patch [2004121514125924772] instead.
