If hditemp.db wasn't versioned, people would fail to re-download it when the package is updated in the ROCK package repository. This would cause inconsistencies in package builds (building the new package with old source archives) and is therefore strongly discouraged.
This package is also an example where ROCK mirrors are important, because the source archives used in ROCK exist on the original locations only for a short period of time.
