I reported the problem to Paolo Bonzini (the sed maintainer) with some
more details two weeks ago and accordingly to a mail he sent me today, the
is fixed now in 4.0.8 (so far only at
https://sed.sf.net/grabbag/ppp).
Rene: Please update sed when it shows up on gnu.org and check again..
