ROCK Newsflash September 2004

Last month the main topic on the rock-devel list was praenti's X.org

patches. Unfortunately he didn't manage to get a dual-installation

of both XFree86 and X.org working in a reasonable manner so it's

currently only possible to select one or the other during build.

Another hot topic were problems arising from the new package

splitting feature: tar choked on the colon in the filename, assuming

it should put/get the file on/from a remote host. After some

discussion that it should not do so if reading from stdin it was

fixed by forcing it to use the local host.

A few days later th found another occurrence of the problem which was

fixed similarly.

That's all for this month.
