Linuxtag Karlsruhe

https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050502.122432.c4eb4fc4.html

Thanks to Hannes Sowa for organising a ROCK booth and surrounding stuff

for LinuxTag Karlruhe at the end of June. Several ROCK Developers will

be there, so if you ever wanted to give them a hug, cookies or a kick

in the balls, here's your chance!

Java package and NOAUTO NODIST flags

https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050520.081207.2107834f.html

https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050519.113257.2f5689da.html

Stefan Fiedler implemented the NOAUTO flag for packages' .desc files.

NOAUTO means that source files for this package need to be downloaded

automatically.

The Sun-Java package has this flag because due to licensing issues, we

are not allowed to mirror the sources. Also, the package is deactivated

by default since the license also prevents us from distributing the

package in distributions.

It is - however - perfectly fine to let the user download the source

file manually and then install it. This has already led to other packages

that need the Java JRE and/or SDK, like OpenOffice.org.

Postinstall scripts

https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050503.220035.151831d3.html

mine version 0.22 and newer now support the long-awaited postinstall

scripts. Packages can now define actions to be executed when the package

is installed and removed.

This is expected to make the cron.run program obsolete in the long term.

ROCKDoc and ROCK Sonar moved

https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050407.080603.b25ae1dd.html

Early April the ROCKDoc and ROCK Sonar sites moved from my little dial-up

connection to a real 100MBit server with a fixed IP-Address.
