Patchlevel changing
(Archive: https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050128.204537.5ae7bb98.html)
There was some confusion going on about when and how to change the extraversion on packages. Clifford is going to write a script that automagically does this whenever he applies a new patch-set. If a package is indirectly affected this still has to be done manually (for example: package X statically links libY.a into its binary and libY is updated to a new version).
mkinitrd shortcomings
(Archive: https://www.rocklinux.net/lurker/message/20050117.115959.4f8643fc.html)
During an inquiry about how to add features like Root on RAID to mkinitrd, Chris Hamilton and Benjamin Schieder had a small discussion about shortcomings of the mkinitrd script. They concluded that the current mkinitrd has a long way to go.
