The ROCK Linux International Support Project

Some months ago, a small group of ROCK developers and users made a team to translate the scripts and documentation available for both 1.5 and 1.7 tree's, so in the near future ROCK Linux could have international support. The main idea for doing this work, is to provide the ROCK users better resources for them to get involved and get to know better how everything works around ROCK Linux.

What are we currently working on?

Currently we are translating all the 1.5 documents and the ROCK Linux Guide to Spanish, Portuguese and German, and modifying the ROCK Linux install shell and menu to provide a multi language interface as well. On January 5th, 2003, we will go for doing the same on the 1.7 tree.

What languages are going to be supported?

We have noticed that the ROCK Linux user community has grown a lot this year, mostly in Europe and America ( North, Central and South), so our efforts are at the moment focussed on these targets. The other languages that we have decided to support for now are:
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Portuguese
  • Polish
  • Sweden
We are looking forward to including many more languages to this list in the near future, but for now we will need more contributors, as the current translators team is very small. If you are interested in helping us, please send an email with the subject: "Volunteer i18n" to the ROCK Linux mailing list or directly to the International Support project leader
